PKR'S FUTURE TIED TO PH'S GOVERNANCE EFFECTIVENESS - ANALYST

SHAH ALAM - The future prominence of PKR hinges on the effectiveness of Pakatan Harapan's (PH) governance, according to a political analyst.

Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Shah Alam Political and Social Media Analyst Associate Professor Dr Sara Chinnasamy said that the success of PKR in becoming a major force in Malaysian politics depends largely on the party meeting key performance indicators (KPIs) set by PH.

"Performance levels and the resolution of societal issues by PH politicians are critical.

"Poor performance might lead to significant political shifts," she told Sinar when contacted.

She also highlighted the critical role of the Indian voter bloc in the upcoming Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election.

"The welfare and economic development of the Indian community are pivotal issues here, given their significant influence in deciding the outcome," she said.

On Sunday, PKR President Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim stressed the need for the party to enhance its organisational structure and adopt a more aggressive strategy through the implementation of KEMAS16 and Party Organisation Empowerment 25 (POP25) programmes, aiming to solidify PKR’s stature in the Malaysian political arena ahead of the 16th General Election (GE16).

Sara added that the current political climate presents an ideal opportunity for the public to evaluate whether the coalition government of PH and Barisan Nasional (BN) under the Madani administration has successfully alleviated the populace’s burdens and fulfilled government responsibilities.

"This by-election serves as an essential litmus test for the potential political alignment among various parties, setting the stage for the larger electoral contest of GE16," she said.
