FADHLINA: NO PRIVATE FINANCIAL FIRMS ALLOWED IN SCHOOLS

NIBONG TEBAL: No private companies or firms providing financial services, including loans, have ever been given permission to enter schools and provide services to teachers, says Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek.

She said the ministry is conducting a thorough investigation into the matter, and acknowledged the possibility that entry was granted by individuals rather than official permission from the ministry.

“We are investigating how they gained access to the ministry’s premises.

“It seems likely they entered with individual consent, not official approval,” she said after launching the Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) Ceria Ke Sekolah programme at the Nibong Tebal parliamentary service centre.

Fadhlina said her ministry is entrusting authorities with further investigations and hopes for a swift resolution to protect public servants, especially teachers.

The minister addressed this issue following reports of financial consulting firms allegedly using teachers as agents and schools as venues for financial briefing sessions.

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission had recently dismantled a syndicate believed to be engaging in corruption and money laundering activities involving a financial consulting firm and officers from several financial institutions.

The syndicate, said to have targeted public servants, is believed to have approved loans amounting to RM700mil. — Bernama
