PETALING JAYA: Johor police have crippled a syndicate involved in distributing drugs as well as printing counterfeit currency and documents.
They arrested two men, aged 30 and 33, and seized drugs worth RM3.68 million in four raids.
Bernama reported Johor police chief M Kumar as saying the syndicate used condominiums in gated communities to store and repackage drugs for distribution.
“The seized drugs included 21.81kg of ecstasy powder, 1.40g of methamphetamine and 40.28 litres of a liquid that has yet to be identified.
“The syndicate is believed to have been active since last December.
“We are now tracking down the mastermind and other syndicate members,” he said at the Johor police headquarters today.
Kumar said police also seized 13 identification cards and driver’s licences, 18 fake banknotes in denominations of RM20, RM50 and RM100; 10 bank cards and car registration cards, as well as printing equipment.
He said RM400 in cash, 222,000 riel (RM240) in Cambodian currency and a Polo Britannia brand watch were also confiscated.
Kumar said both men tested positive for methamphetamine and had past criminal records linked to drug offences.
He said the two would be remanded for 12 days from Jan 14.
